IMPHAL, May 20 : Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma produced a fine all round performance to hand TCMDC second straight Group B victory in the ongoing 1st MNCA U-23 Men's H Biramangol Memorial Tournament today as they thumped PCC, Mayai Koibi by 193 runs at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground.
Put in to bat first, K Kalyan Sharma (64 off 62 balls) and Ringku Kangujam (53 off 27) scored half centuries to help TCMDC post a modest total of 242 for all wickets down in 39 overs. The total however proved too big to PCC who slumped to 49 all out in 19.4 overs as Kalyan Sharma (5/7 in 3.4 overs), N Arbin (3/13 in 6 overs) and Nepram Richer (2/4 in 2 overs) wreaked havoc across their batting line up.
N Arbin 31 and Nepram Richer 21 had also added significant scores to TCMDC's tally in an innings that saw PCC's Ajay Mh Kumar (3/28 in 7.1 overs) and L Chingkheihunba (3/43 in 8 overs) sharing 6 wickets between them.
In reply, only Bobby Khangembam 12 and Takhelmayum Vikash 10 were the only double digit run getters for PCC as 6 batters departed on ducks including three batters to Kalyan Sharma to end up gathering 49 runs.
Kalyan Sharma was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound opened their Group (A) campaign with a commanding 86 run victory over TRAU, Kwakeithel.
TRAU chose to field first and managed to bowl out ESU for 160 runs in 35.2 overs with Amritakaran Yumnam (4/34 in 8 overs), Mutum Swabhiman (2/29 in 8 overs) and Thangjam Rishi (2/30 in 8 overs) produced brilliant performances.
ESU batting department however faltered badly and slumped to 74 all out in 27.2 overs as Hanjabam Donba Sharma (4/16 in 6.2 overs), Simesh Thokchom (3/22 in 5 overs) and Oinam Motital (2/4 in 4 overs) of ESU ran through their line up to snatch the victory.
Only Thangjam Rishi 25 managed to score a double digit run for TRAU in the chase.
For ESU, Sagolshem Ronal produced a masterful knock of 92 runs off 94 balls and was eventually adjudged player of the match. Ziad 12 and Ahongsangbam Jenash 12 also reached double digit figures for ESU before their collapse at 160.
