IMPHAL, May 20 : THAU, Thangmeiband cruised to the second straight victory in the 3rd MNCA Senior Women's One Day Trophy 2023-24 by hammering PTRC, Patsoi Part IV by 144 runs at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak today.
Niruta Thoudam starred in the match as she smacked a 62-ball 60 to help THAU post a commanding total of 230 runs for 4 wickets after put in to bat first before picking three wickets to set up PTRC collapse within 26.4 overs at 86.
THAU lost Seterny Brahmacharimayum on a 4-ball duck to Laitonjam Tolika in the first over but Kalpana Keisham and Ronibala Chanu forged a commendable 75-run partnership off 67 balls before Ronibala was trapped lbw for 35 runs by Chingkheileima to break the partnership.
From 80/2 after 11.5 overs, Kalpana and Niruta Thoudam combined well to trouble the PTRC bowlers once again.
Kalpana brought up her half century (51 off 77 balls) and took THAU to 150 by hitting Ranjita Koijam for a four in the fifth delivery of the 24th over. Niruta also joined the rank by completing her half century off a single five overs later.
The duo went on to stitch together 107 runs off 98 balls but Laishram Linthoingambi of PTRC managed to break the crucial partnership by removing Kalpana in the first delivery of the 30th over for 80 runs as the scoreboard read 187.
Niruta Thoudam went on to add 60 runs and took THAU past 200-run mark before she holed out to Chingkheileima off a delivery by Kiranbala in the last delivery of the 33rd over.
From 216/4, Monica Ninthoujam 28 and Kiranbala Haorungbam 1 produced an unbeaten stand to finish the innings at 230/4.
In reply, PTRC had a nightmarish outing as Kiranbala Haorunbam swept the top three batters all on ducks including Loidangton and Kiranbala Palujam in the second and third delivery of the 7th over to reduce to 38/3.
Niruta Thoudam then swept the following three wickets to further reduce PTRC to 50/6 in the 14th over before Sophiya Naoroibam further dented their cause by claiming the 7th and the 8th wickets and left PTRC teetering at 61/8 within 18.4 overs.
Niruta Thoudam then undone Laitonjam Joshika for the 9th wicket to complete her haul of four wickets (4/9 in 7 overs) in the 24th over before Hijam Malemkhombi got rid of Laitonjam Tolika on 8 to cut short the innings.
Eventually Niruta who produced an all round performance was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at THAU ground, PTCC, Patsoi Part III registered their first win in two games by beating FORCE, Kshetrigao by 72 runs.
Put in to bat first, PTCC amassed 187/5 in the allotted 35 overs courtesy of Laishram Teresa's 66-ball 74 and Thoudam Mangalsana's unbeaten 35 before they restricted FORCE to 115/6 in the chase. Rahamatun (3/22 in 7 overs) and Khadija (2/25 in 7 overs) shared the five wickets for FORCE before they faltered in the chase despite efforts from Mehanaz 33 and Barkatun Khanam 23.
PTCC's Niruka, Bandana, Angoubi Khundrakpam, Sanaloo Takhelmayum, Khundrakpam Anjali and Hijam Sijapriyari were among the wickets to restrict FORCE to a meagre total.
Laishram Teresa who starred with the bat for PTCC was adjudged player of the match.
