Two held with drugs worth Rs 26 lakh

IMPHAL, May 21: Two individuals have been rounded up by cadres of the Pambei-led UNLF along with drugs worth around Rs 26 lakh.
The two individuals were paraded before the media at Langol Ningthou Youth Club community hall today.
The outfit’s media coordinator Th Charairongba said cadres of the outfit, acting on specific information, carried out a search operation and rounded up  the two persons.
The two individuals have been identified as Nongthombam Meghajit of Naoremthong and Ngariyambam Hitler of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak.
A large quantity of drugs including N-10 tablets, Diazepam tablets and Codeine   cough syrup were found concealed inside a godown located near St Joseph’s School, Sangaiprou, Charairongba said.
It has been learnt that Kangla Drugs and Surgicals, Naoremthong owned and run by Meghajit’s son N Jamesjit alias Thoi was used as an outlet for those drugs, he said.
Declaring that Kangla Drugs and Surgicals has been banned indefinitely, Charairongba said that N Jamesjit must come to the party within three days.
He said that drug abuse and trafficking have greatly harmed the society, particularly youngsters.
“It is our responsibility to protect the society from the scourge of drugs”, he said.
The seized items were handed over to Langol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Universal Mothers Association before they were disposed of by setting them ablaze.
