IMPHAL, May 2 : YLK, Chingarel claimed both the boys and girls' titles in the 46th State Junior Handball Championships hosted by Lilong Mairenkhong Rising Club (MRC) at its ground under the aegis of Manipur Handball Association.
In the boys' final staged yesterday, YLK defeated KVWA, Mayang Imphal by 18-16 goals in a keenly contested clash. A Premson scored 8 of the total 16 goals for KVWA but his effort went in vain as Bekham 6, Henba 4, Krinibash 3, Adison 2, Albert 2 and Abhijit 1 gathered 18 goals for YLK .
Manichandra 4, Risikant 2 and Yaikhomba 1 were also on target for KVWA in a lost cause.
Meanwhile in the girls' final, YLK thrashed KVWA by 9-1 goals riding on Selina 3, Nomika 2, Bijeya 2, Levia 1 and Pitelika 1. The lone goal for the losing team was scored by Henthoi.
Semi-finals
In the semi-final matches of the girls' competition, YLK defeated OYO, Kongpal by 7-1 goals while KVWA edged out ESU, Wangkhei by 8-7 goals.
Pitalika 2, Nomika 1, Selina 1, Neviya 1, Bijaya 1 and Joysila 1 were on target in YLK's big win against OYO whose RK Nilamjayshree added the team's only goal.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Kh Henthoi 5 and Sanjana 3 were on target as Inunganbi 3, Payal 3 and Devika 1 scored for ESU.
Meanwhile in the boys' first semi-final match, YLK knocked out NSU, Khuman Lampak by 16-7 goals courtesy of significant contributions from Adison 5, Bekham 4 and Krinibash 3.
KVWA then outlasted BBA 3-0 in an all Mayang Imphal semi-fial clash courtesy of goals from Roshan 1, Beskir 1 and Naresh 1.
