IMPHAL, May 29 : Yumkhaibam Gitchandra secured the junior boys 60 kg title in the ongoing Imphal East Boxing Championship 2024 at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Y Gitchandra outclassed Laishram Mangansana of NBA in the final bout today to seal the top honour after Rohit Khumanthem of SRC overcame Moirangthem Lamnganba in the junior boys 57 kg final.
Meanwhile, SRC's Md Abdul Noor in the meantime notched the junior boys 54 kg title beating Elex Urikhinbam in the final bout as Martin Khundrakpam defeated Malemnganba Chongtham of SRC for the 52 kg title and Ningthoujam Akaba of NSA beat SRC's Sairem Roshan for the 50 kg title.
M Milky, Y Lanthoibi and S Linthoi win gold in school age girls competitions
The second day of the tournament also saw Sarangthem Linthoi Chanu beat Diana Chodhurimayum of MKBA for the school age girls 49 kg title.
Yumlembi Lanthoibi in the meantime clinched the 46 kg title beating Lamameilu Gangmei of MKBA in the final after Milky Meinam of SRC defeated Chanambam Langlen for the 43 kg title.
NBA's Pheiroijam Bigson clinches school age boys 61 kg crown
The day also saw Pheiroi-jam Bigson of NBA seal the school age boys 61 kg title by defeating Ng Samson of SRC in the final bout.
Earlier, N Robash Meitei of NSA took home the school age boys 33 kg title by getting better of Khungdongbam Ngongo of NBA in the title clash before NSA's Pebam Joyhenba defeated Achoibam Thoithoiba of NBA for the 40 kg title.
The 46 kg category title meanwhile went to Shagolshem Korounganba of NSA who defeated Kh Ngouba of NBA in the title clash as Pangambam Netrajit of SRC defeated W Khumanlakpa Meitei of MKBA for the 49 kg crown and Kharibam Leishemba of MKBA beat Thangjam Jerison of NBA for the 52 kg title. On the other hand, Wangkheimayum Ronald and Sandham Victory made their way to the school age boys 55 kg final securing semi-final victories. In the first semi-final of the category, W Ronald outlasted Thoudam Punshiba while Sandham Victory of NBA saw off Devraj Chandam in the second semi-final match.
Kh Danyson reaches elite men's 51 kg final
Khwairakpam Danyson of MKBA also advanced to the final of the elite men's 51 kg category competition today. He defeated Kshetrimayum Chaoba of NBA in a semi-final match to confirm his final ticket.
