IMPHAL, May 4: Session Judge, Imphal East has acquitted two brothers in a 2015 murder case.
The two accused persons who have been acquitted by the Court due to lack of circumstantial evidence have been identified as Kambam Dasho (55) and Kambam Ramkumar (47) of Poirou Khongjin Kaina Chingkhong.
They were put on trial in connection with the murder of Kambam (ongbi) Ibemhal Devi on  August 18, 2015.
Ibemhal was found dead in the kitchen of her house when family members returned home from a paddy field.
When she was found dead, an almirah in the house was found broken and some money stolen.
A complaint was lodged with Andro police station by the family members and an investigation was launched.
The prosecution, in order to prove charges levelled against the two, produced 21 witnesses and material exhibits before the Court.
On the other hand, the defence counsel produced four witnesses during the trial of the case.
After hearing the submissions of the prosecutor and defence counsel, the Court observed that the prosecution failed to produce the circumstantial evidence to prove that the two accused persons did commit the crime.
The Court then acquitted Kambam Dasho and Kambam Ramkumar.
