IMPHAL, May 5 : USA, Khurai rallied back from two goals down to edge past NEROCA FC by 3-2 goals as Sang-gai Football School (SGFS) beat United Brothers FC (UBFC) 1-0 in today's Group A matches of the 16th Manipur State League at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
NEROCA FC went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead off a penalty converted by Suraj at the stroke of the 45th minute before Deepak doubled the advantage in the 55th minute.
NEROCA FC looked to rest back after slotting home twice and saw relentless USA pull back a goal in the 63rd minute.
USA, having halved the deficit, kept looking for more goals and kept creating chances after chances and eventually completed the comeback with Tombi finding the equaliser in the 70th minute.
NEROCA FC upped the ante following two back to back goals while trying to regain the lead but their efforts did not materialise. To everyone's surprise, USA overturned the lead in the 75th minute through Nepolian.
USA defence then put up a commendable performance to soak up later pressure from NEROCA FC who were trying to get themselves back into the game and eventually saw out the game 3-2.
Later in the day, SGFS defeated UBFC courtesy of a solitary goal by Priyojit in the 51st minute.
