Greedy shopkeeper forced to return extra money

IMPHAL, May 6: A shopkeeper who sold GI sheets at inflated price to a customer has been made to return the extra money.
Acting on a complaint lodged by a man who house has been ravaged by hailstorm that the owner of a GI sheet store located at Wahengbam Leikai charged him inflated price, a team of the Arambai Tenggol went to the store and forced the shopkeeper to return the extra money he charged on the customer.
The customer said that he bought six bundles of GI sheets of thickness 25 mm and the shopkeeper charged him Rs 3950 per bundle.
Thus the shopkeeper was charging extra Rs 230 per bundle.
With the intervention of the Arambai Tenggol, the shopkeeper was later made to return Rs 1350 to the customer against the additional Rs 1380 he charged on the customer for the six bundles.
Meanwhile, members of the Arambai Tenggol launched drives at different market places to check if any store is hiking prices of GI sheets.
They have also appealed to all shopkeepers/dealers dealing in GI sheets not to hike prices of the particular item.
