1st Thoruwl Trophy Futsal Iconic Five, Hnahringkhu YC post narrow wins to reach quarters

IMPHAL, May 7 : Cheengkhu YC, Iconic Five, Hnahringkhu YC, Peaky Brothers and The Wanderers all reached quarter finals of the ongoing 1st Thoruwl Trophy Futsal Tournament organised by the Thoruwl Foundation, Chandel at Thoruwl Turf, Liwa Sarei.
In the first Pool A prequarterfinal match and tournament's second, Cheengkhu YC defeated Youngstars FC by 7-5 goals to register their place in the quarterfinals.
WL Benoson starred with five goals in this keenly contested match (1', 10', 26', 27', 40') while WL Chana scored twice (4', 16').
For Youngstars FC Yaomaya scored twice (6', 9') as Phowltha, Aprilngam and Omega scored a goal each.
In the second Pool A pre-quarterfinal match, Iconic Five rode on Bedeenpar (16', 25', 31', 32') and Ringshangam (11', 31', 33', 40') and Mongampha (3', 34') to hand Iconic Five a 10-6 win over Betuk YC whose Ashok, William and Daringam scored two goals apiece.
In the second Pool B pre-quarterfinal match staged later in the day Hnahringkhu YC edged out Maahenii FC 8-7.
Wolni (11', 31', 29', 33'), BS John (11', 33') and Springson (34', 40') were on target for the winners as Lightson scored four goals in a lost cause for Maahenii FC.
In the third Pool B pre-quarterfinal match and today's fourth, Peaky Brothers knocked out Ruul FC by 10-4 goals courtesy of goals from Ahong (7', 31', 32'), Richard (14', 25'), Jonathan (29', 33'), Rengchunghoi (27'), Rengchungthang (34') and Atheite (40').
In the fourth Pool B pre-quarterfinal match, The Wanderers   saw off Pupu Papa by 9-5 goals courtesy of Marconi (3', 6', 11', 34'), Winkle (13', 18') and ST Shetngam (14', 24', 37').
Anand (2', 29') and Angthot (4', 13', 27') were on target for Pupu Papa.
