POLOI sweep 7 medals as 2nd IE District Fencing Championship gets underway

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : POLOI, Chingarel Tejpur amassed as many as 7 medals including two gold medals as the 2nd Imphal East District Fencing Championship kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Fencing Hall under the aegis of Imphal East District Fencing Association.
As many as 156 fencers across various age groups from 9 different units are taking part in this district level championship which was opened today in the presence of T Phulen, Director, Youth Affairs and Sports Department; H Hemjit, secretary, Manipur Fencing Association; N Parithoi Meitei, Senior FO, Youth Affairs and Sports Department and L Birahari Meitei, advisor to the Imphal East District Fencing Association as dignitaries.
Day 1 highlight
Foil competition
Thoihensana of KHFA, Khongman Zone-4 clinched the sub-junior boys title defeating Lamyanba K of POLOI in the title bout as Henthoisana of KHFA and City Boy of YDO, Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai settled for bronze medals.
Doranto Th of POLOI bagged the mini boys foil gold medal beating Neil Mars N of KSDO, Kongpal as T Korounganba of KSDO and Henthoisana S of KHFA settled for bronze medals.
Nora Leima N of KSDO meanwhile sealed the mini girls foil gold medal beating N Joshlin of KHFA in the final today. A Joshina of KSDO and Kh Princy of MIISIKHOL, Khurai  secured bronze medals in this competition.
Epee Competition
Piyanganbi N of POLOI took home the sub-junior girls epee gold medal as she defeated H Bhumika of KSDO in the final today. Chilsilla S of POLOI and H Loyanganbi of MIISIKHOL settled for the bronze medals in this event. G Baniba of KSDO in the meantime secured the mini boys epee gold medal defeating Derik H of MIISIKHOL as H Loyanganbi of MIINIKHOL defeated N Bindiya of POLOI for the mini girls epee gold medal.
Sabre Competition
Y Yaipharembi won MIISIKHOL a gold medal in the junior girls sabre competition as she defeated A Florina of POLOI in the final. H Nirupama of KHFA and Somika Th of YDO were able to register bronze medals in the same competition.
Meanwhile, KHFA's Richtopper N won the mini boys sabre gold medal defeating L Khumanlakpa of MIISIKHOL in the final as N Dextor of YDO and Ph Winson of KSDO settled for the bronze medals.
The mini girls sabre title in the meantime went to Selina S of KHFA as she defeated W Helniya of OLA, Kongba in the final. W Delya of OLA and W Sanjulika of YDO managed bronze medals in the same event.
