Held for sexual assault

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : A man has been arrested and remanded to police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor step daughter.
The accused step father from Bishnupur was staying at Imphal.
He was arrested by Imphal West police and produced before the Court of Special Court POCSO Imphal West along with a prayer for taking him to police custody.
In the Court today, the prosecutor submitted that the minor has given statements stating she was sexually assaulted and physically abused by her stepfather in a rented house in Imphal where they are staying.
During preliminary investigation, the prosecutor submitted that the accused has admitted to have committed the crimes levelled against him. After hearing the submissions, the Court remanded the accused to 5 days police custody till June 14 for further investigation.
