Draws the order of the day in 3rd AMFA Cup

IMPHAL, Jun 26 : Ground Development Committee (GDC), Thinungei held Youth Welfare Club (YWC), Thambalkhong to a 1-1 draw as Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei Palace Compound played out a goalless draw with United Progressive Adults' Association (UPAA), Kyamgei in today's matches of the 3rd AMFA Cup at Artificial Turf Ground.
In the third Group A match and today's first, YWC and GDC entered into the break goalless before Ningthoujam Edison broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half.
GDC fought back but were denied on multiple occasions by the YWC defence until Heisnam Michael found the target one minute away from time.
GDC skipper P Anand who received a yellow card in the added time of the first half was sent off during the 8-minute stoppage time getting another yellow. Despite the numerical superiority, YWC failed to make a comeback and eventually both the teams ended up sharing a point apiece.
The second match (Group B) of the day between ESU and UPAA was also a neck and neck affair but lack of finesse forced them to split a point each.
XI-Star SU will play AMOFA, Moirang in the next Group B match tomorrow from 1 pm at the same venue before YDO, Heinoukhongnembi take on FC Imphal City, Kongba in a Group A match from 3 pm.
