IMPHAL, Jun 8: MPSC will lock horns with PUC, Kairang for the senior women's regu title in the ongoing state Sepak Takraw Championship-2024 organised by the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
The championship resumed today after almost two weeks due to the recent flood situation at the tournament venue and surrounding areas.
MPSC entered the final with a 2-1 sets win over SAIRC-A as PUC defeated SAIRC-B in the similar fashion in another semi-final match today.
SAIRC-A however defeated SAIRC-B 15-5, 15-7 to secure third place title.
Men's Regu Event
20 matches of the men's regu competition were also completed today.
In the Group A league matches, MPSC-A secured three wins and suffered two defeats as SWC and SAIRC-B sealed two wins.
MPSC notched up straight sets victories against SAIRC-B, YAWA-D and SWC but went down to 0-2 to PUC-B and 1-2 to YAWA-A. SWC, meanwhile, defeated YAWA-D in straight sets and PUC-B by 2-1 sets as SAIRC-B defeated YAWA-A and YAWA-D in straight sets.
SAIRC-A also registered a win by beating PUC-A by 2-1 sets.
Meanwhile in the Group B league matches, IMSUC, Heingang defeated PUC-A and MPSC by 2-1 sets before beating YAWA in straight sets for the third win as MPSC-B defeated YAWA-B and YAWA-C in straight sets and PUC-A by 2-1 sets to earn three victories.
YAWA-B also pulled off two wins by beating YAWA-C and PUC-A in straight sets as SAIRC-A defeated YAWA-B in straight sets for a victory today.
SWC-A vs YAWA-A in boys regu final showdown
SWC-A meanwhile will square off against YAWA-A in the title clash of the boys regu competition.
SWC-A booked their place in the final with a 17-15, 15-11 win over HUDIC in the first semi-final match before YAWA-A defeated SWC-B 15-3, 5-15, 15-12 in the other semi-final match.
Earlier in the quarterfinal matches staged today, SWC-A outlasted YASTA 15-1, 15-7; SWC-B defeated IMSUC-A 15-12, 15-12; HUIDC defeated PUC 15-3, 15-8 and YAWA-A beat IMSUC-B 15-7, 15-10.
