WYFC, PATHAP FC cruise to third straight victories

IMPHAL, Jun 8: WYFC, Wangjing and PATHAP FC, Lilong eased to their third straight victories as the L Memcha Devi Super Division Football League 2024-25 resumed at Kodompokpi Sports Complex in Thoubal after almost two weeks of stoppage due to some inconveniences.
WYFC sealed their third win on the trot by beating DUC, Charangpat 1-0 this afternoon in the 9th encounter of the tournament organised by the District Football Association Thoubal. The lone goal that settled the game was scored by Y Suraj in the 62nd minute.
It may be recalled that WYFC opened their account with a 4-1 thrashing of Yairipok FC before handing a 3-1 defeat to YDC, Yairipok Khoirom for the second victory.
Later in the day, PATHAP FC thumped ASSA, Sangaiyumpham by 2-0 goals in a slightly one sided encounter.
Having beaten HKKSA, Thoubal Haokha Kiyam 1-0 in their opening match and a similar 1-0 win over SYDA, Thoubal Athokpam in the second match, PATHAP FC started confidently and went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead off a 17th minute strike from Md Arish Khan.
After the restart, BS Warish found the second goal for the team in the 43rd minute to further cement their lead. With ASSA failing to convert chances in front of goal, PATHAP FC saw out the game 2-0.
