Fire at Moreh, Jiri

MOREH/JIRIBAM, Jul 9: A barber shop and rice hotel run by a non-Manipuri and a Meitei respectively have been gutted at Moreh this evening.
The barber shop and the hotel are located just around 30 metres away from Moreh police station and next to the office of the Customs Preventive Force.
The hotel and the barber shop were gutted by a fire which broke out at around 7 pm today.
Whether some miscreants started the fire or what caused it could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report. Fire tenders of Moreh Fire Service came and doused the fire. On the other hand, the house of Kuki Inpi, Jiribam/Tamenglong secretary Seijathang Khongsai was torched by unidentified miscreants at Phaitol village at around 2.30 am today. In a video message, Seijathang Khongsai said that it was the second time his house was torched. He said that vehicles and all the household properties were destroyed when his house was burnt down. He went on to ask, “How long should we harbour enmity against each other? Wouldn’t it be better for all the people of Manipur, particularly Jiribam, to live in peace and harmony?”
