DIMAPUR, Jul 3 : Rising People's Party (RPP) said today that the number of wins for the NDPP-BJP candidates in the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in Nagaland "does not necessarily mean that it is an overwhelming mandate for the opposition-less Government led by Neiphiu Rio".
While accepting the verdict of the people, RPP reminded the NDPP-BJP coalition Government in Nagaland to condemn the "ugly celebrations" of their party workers post-election results.
"Videos of mammonistic celebrations involving Christians throwing money of various denominations from an open vehicle and a balcony being circulated on social media is highly condemnable," RPP said. "Such vulgar and shameless celebrations by the NDPP party workers of Ward 10 and Ward 20, Dimapur, is unheard of in our culture and alien to our ethos", it added.
RPP said the ruling NDPP should condemn these "reprehensible" actions. "Time and again the NDPP has claimed itself to be the defender of Naga 'faith and identity', most recently during the Lok Sasha elections. However, everything in the videos point to paganistic and mammonic celebrations which are totally against our tradition and deeply offensive to our faith," RPP stated.
The party said it is time the NDPP walks the talk and condemns such "orgiastic display" of behavior by its rank and file.
