YWU win 2-1, go top in 21st Ksh Leihao Devi Memorial Football League Tournament

IMPHAL, Jul 8 : YWU, Kakching sealed a 2-1 win over KMSWC, Keirak to temporarily go top in the 21st Ksh Leihao Devi Memorial Football League Tournament 2024 organised by DSA Kakching at its playground.
Y Dayananda handed YWU the lead in the 18th minute of their ultimate match with a clinical finish but KMSWC clawed back into the game with Ch Akbar finding the equaliser in the 24th minute.
The two sides entered into the break with the same margin despite their attempts to add on until Y Dayananda scored his second in the 51st minute and retained the lead for the Kakching team.
The remaining part of the game saw YWU pressing to increase their lead while KMSWC, Keirak struggled hard to restore parity but the defence on both ends produced superb performances to deny alteration in the scoreline and eventually YWU ended their campaign with 6 wins in 7 matches.
With the result, YWU went on top of the league table above SWC-Waikhong, who are on level points off 6 straight victories and still have a match left in hand. Whether YWU finish as league winners or runners up will depend on the result of SWC's final match.
