CAU inks MoU with Vietnam institute

IMPHAL, Aug 8 : The Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal and Vietnam Academy of Agriculture Science have signed an agreement for cooperation in agricultural research and education.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal represented by Vice Chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra and Vietnam Academy of Agriculture Science, Hanoi (Vietnam) Vice President Dao during a signing ceremony held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Socialist Republic of Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at Hyderabad House in New Delhi today.
The MoU aimed at providing a platform for future cooperation between CAU, Imphal and the Hanoi-based academy in diverse fields of agriculture and allied sciences.
The agreement was one of the nine agreements entered between India and Vietnam to deepen comprehensive strategic partnership and enhance cooperation in the fields of customs, agriculture, legal, radio and television broadcast, culture, and tourism.
The specific areas of collaboration include increasing production of honey bee by double brood technique for monitoring quality as well as marketing by using ICT tools and use of micro algae as they are rich in protein, vitamins, and antioxidants and can be used as climate resilient technology.
The two sides also agreed to collaborate on production and value addition of crab culture, lobster culture and also live clams (mainly silk clams, flower clams, and live snails), rice germplasm for upland, wetland and acid soil, integrated farming system for highland and wetland, value addition of comilla cotton and submission of collaborative projects.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
