CHIKL, IFC commence IW Super Division League campaign on winning notes

IMPHAL, Sep 25 : CHIKL, Lilong Chajing and IFC, Lamphel registered victories in their opening matches of the 24th Super Division Football League being organised by the Imphal West District Football Association.
In the second match of the tournament staged this afternoon at PAMYAL ground, Patsoi Part 2, CHIKL rode on K Wanglenganba's last ditch goal to snatch a 3-2 win over YUC, Irom Meijrao.
CHIKL led the first half 1-0 courtesy of M Rakhesh's goal 20th minute strike before S Ajitkumar doubled the advantage in the 50th minute.
YUC did not give up easily and staged a comeback while keeping their citadel intact. It was Narendra who reduced the deficit by finding the target in the 56th minute before S Rojit equalised in the 64th minute.
The game was heading towards a 2-2 draw with both teams unable to make the most of their chances until K Wanglenganba scored a last gasp goal 5 minutes into the stoppage time to dash YUC's hope of salvaging a point.
Later in the day's second and tourney's third match, Rejoice Chithung scored twice to inspire IFC a 3-1 win over KYC-N, Khurkhul North.
IFC dominated the earlier proceedings and cruised to a 3-0 first half lead with Rejoice Chithung scoring twice in the 19th and the 40th minute and Phungreiyo scoring in the 38th minute.
IFC sat back with the commanding lead in the second half and concentrated more in thwarting the KYC-N charges until Albish broke their defence to pull back a goal in the 80th minute.
The scoreline remained unchanged despite KYC-N's effort to further reduce the margin.
