IMPHAL, Sep 3 : Manipur intensified their quarterfinal campaign in the 63rd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament with a 4-0 rout of Nepal for the second win at KIIT football ground, Sohna Road in Gurugram today.
Having crushed Madhya Pradesh's St Joseph's Convent Senior Secondary School  7-0 in the Pool C opening match yesterday, the Manipur team represented by TG English School, Bishnupur rode on Alex's double to prevail 4-0 against Nepal represented by Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya today.
Alex put Manipur ahead after 9 minutes before Premsagar doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute.
Nepal failed to make the most of their chances in the second half as well and saw Gautam swell Manipur's lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute before Alex hit the decisive goal as well as his second goal in the 70th minute.
With the result Manipur are on top of the league table above another contenders West Bengal who posted a 6-1 win over Madhya Pradesh for their second win today.
Manipur will play West Bengal's Chowbaga High School tomorrow in the decisive league match at the same venue. The match starts at 7 am. The winners of this match will progress into the quarterfinals.
