37th Sub-Junior State Basketball Championships YOSC vs RKSDV in girls' final, stage set for boys' semis

IMPHAL, Sep 4 : YOSC, Khurai will face off against RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya (RKSDV) in the title girls title clash of the 37th Sub-Junior State Basketball Championships being organised by the Manipur Basketball Association at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
In the last two league matches of the four-team girls' competition, YOSC overwhelmed Catholic School 39-16 and RKSDV thumped LMYVA 19-2 to finish league winners and runners up respectively and completed the final line up.
Khushi topscored in YOSC's comprehensive win scoring 24 points alone as Tanushree (8 pts), Odishka (5 pts) and Lanchenbi (2 pts) made up the other points.
Naorem Nancy meanwhile led the scoring for Catholic School with 14 points while Mahelli L scored the other two points.
It was the third straight victory for the Khurai side and eventually they finished on top of the league round.
Meanwhile, Inunganbi (8 pts), Julibiya (6 pts) and Rupashree (5 pts) led the scoring for RKSDV while Hoshika scored the only two points for LMYVA. With the win, RKSDV finished league runners up and qualified for the final.
The day also saw the completion of the semi-final line up of the  8-team boys competition. Group A winners Model Club, Chingamakha will play Group B runners up Sainik School Imphal while Group B winners will take on Group A runners up ESU in the semi-finals.
In the last Group B match, YOSC secured their third consecutive victory and became group winners by defeating LMYVA, Lalambung 53-18 courtesy of the highest contribution of 12 points from Kelvin and Roosevelt's 11. Bidyaraj and Slictic also contributed 8 points apiece to set up the huge win for YOSC.
For LMYVA, Anderson scored 10 points as N Nelson scored 4 points and Yohenba and Tomthinganba added two points apiece.
Meanwhile, Model Club completed the Group A sweep by notching up a 54-14 win over ESU, Wangkhei.
Th Sotindrachan (16 pts) and Gison Th (10 pts) led the scoring for Model Club as Achome Phoenix and Ingudam Keilung scored 6 points each, Waikhom Yohenba and RK Monish scored 4 goals apiece, and Keisham Singhajit, Shatish Ahanthem, Angamba Heishnam and Th Ronaldo contributed two points apiece.
For ESU, A Geetchandra topscored with 8 points as RK Mangalsana, L Salai, and Sh Bronson scored 2 points apiece.
The semi-final matches will begin tomorrow at 4 pm.
