Seized SUP to be recycled

IMPHAL, Sep 30 : The large consignment of single-use plastic (SUP) carry bags, valued at over Rs 30 lakh, seized from a godown owned by a non-Manipuri at Nilakuthi, will be recycled in Meghalaya.
The plastic bags were seized on September 28 during a joint operation by the Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Imphal East district administration, Heingang police, and Heingang CD block.
The seized items have been handed over to Ashok Trader, a firm based in Tentha, Thoubal, for transportation to Meghalaya.
According to reports, the seized carry bags will be transported to Meghalaya tomorrow .
 Elangbam Amuthoi, Block Development Officer of Heingang, has appealed to the public to avoid using banned plastic items.
