IMPHAL, Oct 12 : Manipur’s Soram Telheiba and Nongmaithem Dhananjoy emerged on top in junior and sub-junior competitions of the ITF Aquathlon National Championship that concluded today in Bhopal.
In the swim and run competition (750 m swimming+ 5 km run) for junior boys, Telheiba was fastest clocking 27:58.3 (27 minutes and 58.3 seconds) as S Ashwin of Maharashtra finished second recording a time of 28:27 and Haryana’s Aman Chahar finished third taking 29:00.7.
Soram Telheiba is the son of Soram Raja and Soram ongbi Thoicha Devi of Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong. He is an undergraduate student of Thambal Marik College.
Meanwhile in the junior boys competition comprising 350 m swim and 3 km run, Nongmaithem Dhananjoy managed the top honour with a time of 15:53.8 (15 minutes and 53.8 seconds). Varunraj Dongle of Maharashtra secured the second spot taking 15:58.3 while Shivaram Madhira of Karnataka finished third by completing the course in 16:13.7.
Dhananjoy hails from Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi Thokchom Leikai and the son of late Nongmaithem Biren Meitei and Nongmaithem ongbi Meena Leima. He reads in Class IX at Assam Rifles School, Mantripukhri.
Leishangthem Bishorjit was fourth in the same competition with a time of 1:56.1.
The championship was organised by the Indian Triathlon Federation from October 12.
