Dog bite kills boy

IMPHAL, Oct 20: An 18 year old boy died today at RIMS after he was bitten by a dog. The deceased has been identified as Ngangom Bigsun (18) s/o Ng Baleshore of Kanto Makha Leikai, Imphal West. He was reading in Class XII at Competitive English School, Uripok.
According to family  members, Bigsun started showing symptoms of hydrophobia from October 18  and he was brought to RIMS for treatment by his mother, Bijenti last morning.
After talking with some of his friends over phone, Bigsun disappeared from RIMS.
On learning that Bigsun was in the Mantripukhri area, one of his aunts brought him to RIMS at around 4/5 pm yesterday.
It is said that Bigsun was bitten by a puppy around two months back. The puppy belonging to a neighbour named Lourembam Shaphaba (53) had also died some time back.
It is said that the puppy was not vaccinated against rabies and Bigsun did not disclose the incident of dog bite to his parents.
Ng Bigsun died at Clinical Psychology Ward, RIMS at around 7.38 am today.
Incidentally, around nine people bitten by dogs, cats and mice were brought to RIMS today.
Meanwhile, the Department of Clinical Psychology has appealed to all the people to get vaccinated against rabies immediately if they are bitten by dogs, cats and mice etc.
