IMPHAL, Oct 20 : The Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF) has expressed disappointment over the 3 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA), citing it falls short of their demand for parity with Central Government employees' DA.
In response, MGSF plans to initiate various forms of protest.
Speaking to media at Pishum, MGSF president Laishram Sarat stated that members of the federation will wear black badges from October 27 to 30 during work hours as a mark of protest if the State Government doesn't increase the DA to match the Central Government rate or schedule a meeting with them.
He said that they will launch a pen down strike from November 4 if the Government continues to ignore their demands.
The All India State Government Employees' Confederation (AISGEC), Manipur Unit has also submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to increase the DA of State Government employees.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, AISGEC, Manipur president M Joykumar said that the DA of State Government's employees will increase from 39 per cent to 42 per cent but it is notably lower than other States.
He mentioned that the Government employees' DA is above 50 per cent in other States.
He also said that they have urged the Governor to increase the retirement age of employees to 62 years and reinstate the Old Pension System among others.
