NPP reaches out with gifts for displaced women

IMPHAL, Oct 22 : The National People's Party (NPP), Manipur unit led by president Y Joykumar has presented Ningol Chakkouba gifts to displaced women taking refuge at the Trade Centre at Lamboikhongnangkhong in Uripok AC today.
Joykumar was accompanied by members of NPP and National People's Front Youth (NPYF) during his visit to the women inmates at the Lamboikhongnangkhong relief camp.
At the relief camp, a former Deputy Chief Minister, appealed to the Government to consider allocating land to the displaced individuals from Churachandpur who are currently unable to return, and construct homes for them.
He also said that his party has been persistently urging the Government to prioritize the safe and secure resettlement of internally displaced people (IDPs).
Joykumar mentioned that NPP national president Conrad Sangma held discussions on the resettlement of IDPs during his recent visit to Manipur.
Stating that they have proposed to the Governor to allocate land in valley districts for constructing homes for IDPs from Churachandpur, whose houses have been reduced to rubble, he added that plans are underway to resettle IDPs from Moreh by January-February 2026 according to the Governor.
The NPP Manipur president further stated that his party will work to allocate lands to IDPs if they come to power in the next elections scheduled for 2027.
He, meanwhile, announced that Uripok Apunba Lup will host a feast for the displaced women at Lamboikhongnangkhong relief camp on October 25 and celebrate Ningol Chakkouba with them.
Joykumar assured that he will extend all possible assistance to make the event a success to bring some joy and warmth to those in need.
