State Open Ranking TT Tournament commences

Thoubal, Oct 29 : Thoubal District Table Tennis Association launched the State Open Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, 2025 at its Indoor Hall under the aegis of the Manipur Table Tennis Association this afternoon.
TT players from 6 districts will compete for 98 medals across various age groups and events in the tournament that will continue till November 2.
 Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports, Naorem Praveen; CO 3rd IRB, Sarangthem Hemanta attended the inaugural function of the tournament where tributes were also paid to 10 State police personnel who made supreme sacrifices during the Indo-China War as a part of the Police Commemoration Day being underway since October 21.
The opening day saw Leorina Soram beating S Lalleibi by 3-2 sets (11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9) in an all Thoubal Group C league opener for U-11 girls before Okram Yaiphabi of Thoubal notched up a commanding straight sets win (11-5,11-3, 11-5) over Moirangthem Lanchenbi of Bishnupur in the Group D opener.
In another Group D match, Thokchom Bristee of Imphal West thumped Thoubal’s Devarani in straight sets (11-3, 11-4, 11-4).
Meanwhile in the U-11 boys’ Group D league matches, Thokchom Yaiphaba of Imphal West beat Bishnupur’s B Nganba Sharma in straight sets as Nameirakpam Petrick beat O Khwaihenba in straight sets in an all Thoubal match. In the Group A league opener, S Arun beat Thounganba  in straight sets in an all Thoubal match before Joysaint AK Sheltun of Thoubal egded past AK Inglemba of Thoubal by 3-2 sets.
