IMPHAL, Oct 30 : Promoting peaceful coexistence among all communities, the Federation of Civil Society Orga- nisation (FOCS), Manipur hosted a Ningol Chakkouba feast for internally displaced people (IDPs) and women from hill and valley districts at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen at DM College campus today.
The event was attended by FOCS acting president BM Yaima Shah, Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) president M Sorojini Leima, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup secretary L Memma, Lecturer of Presidency College Dr Khullakpam Sapna, former All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) member Julia Shinglai, Kabui Mothers' Organisation president Puiruna Kabui, representative of IDPs Naorem Rojita Leima, retired Professor W Nabakumar and KTOV women wing secretary Huinu Serto Kom and Shangkhuring Maring as presidium members.
Over 300 women from different communities who participated in the celebration were presented modest gifts by the organiser.
Addressing the function, BM Yaima welcomed the Ningols and prayed for their wellbeing.
FOCS has been extending whatever assistance they could to the IDPs and will continue to do so, he said.
Urging the Government to take necessary steps to resettle the IDPs by considering the hardships they have endured, Yaima added that the Government has the responsibility to restore normalcy in the State.
He also expressed hope that the Ningol Chakkouba festival would foster peace and peaceful coexistence among all communities in the State.
