Masters’ Athletic Championship Horthingshang Chahongnao Shimray fastest in 30+ yrs 5000 m race

IMPHAL, Oct 4 : Horthingshang Chahongnao Shimray raced to the men’s 30+ yrs 5000 m race title as the 46th Masters' Athletic Championship got underway at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
Horthingshang Chahongnao Shimray clocked an impressive time of 19:19.39 (19 minutes and 19.39 seconds) to top the competition.
Nakambam Nilbeer meanwhile topped the 35+ 5000 m race with a time of 22:52.39 as Yumnam Shamu sealed the 40+ years title with a time of 20:24.39. Lukram Bikram in the meantime won the 45+ years category gold by completing the course in 21:12.18 as W Dinesh took the 50+ years category gold with a time of 29.19.48.
Maibam Ratankumar meanwhile earned the 55+ years 5000 m race title with a time of 27.44.8 as Yumnam Achouba took 26:45.34; Sukham Janendro took 27:54.35 and Thoudam Hemantakumar took 29:19.48 for the 60+, 65+ and 75+ category titles respectively.
Wangkheimayum Subita and Thoudam Akasini meanwhile clocked 32:31.71 and 37:34.78 to respectively seal the top honours in the women’s 70+ and 75+ years 5000 m race.
Hurdles
The day also saw Longjam Bhubon securing 80+ men’s 200 m hurdles race title with a time of 42.60 seconds as Kh Manichand won the 75+ years’ 300 m hurdles gold with a time of 1 minute and 5.69 seconds.
S Manisana in the meantime won the women’s 65+ 300 m hurdles race taking 1:40.04 as Thongam Memcha won the 60+ category title with a time of 1:22.49.
Moirangthem Ibotombi meanwhile sealed the 50+ years category 400 m hurdles title with a time of 1:21.22 as Pukhrambam Surchandra clocked 1:22.82 and Waikhom Boboy clocked 1:14.76 for the 55+ and 40+ 400 m hurdles titles respectively.
Pukhrambam Shantikumar meanwhile earned the 400 m hurdles title for 55+ category with a time of 1:22.82.
Hammer Throw
Sorokhaibam Bebe Chanu topped the women’s 40+ hammer throw event today with a record throw of 21.32 m as Usham Babita (12.85 m) and Ayekpam Urmila (10.42 m) secured the second and third place.
Mutum Asharani meanwhile sealed the 45+ women’s title with by recording 25.39 m as Khumanthem Ujala picked the 55+ category title with a 14.90 m throw, Mary Rengma sealed the 65+ category title with a 19.79 m throw and L Inaobi sealed the 70+ category title with a 17.99 m throw.
RK Devjani on the other hand claimed the 75+ category hammer throw gold with a 16.26 m throw as Laishram Rashi earned the 80+ category title with a 12.87 m throw.
Discus Throw
Aber Guha claimed the men’s 30+ category discus throw title with the best effort of 29.55 m as Mutum Robert won the 35+ category title with a 26.20 m finish.
H Sunnykid (18.93 m) and Potsangbam Tomba (17.75 m) in the meantime claimed the 40+ and 45+ category titles respectively as W Thoiba recorded a 34.15 m throw to seal the 50+ category title; T Rojikumar recorded a 24.11 m throw for the 55+ category title; L Ramananda recorded a 34.30 m throw for the 60+ category title; S Kunjeshor recorded a 29.93 m throw for the 65+ category title and Th Biren recorded a 29.62 m throw for the 70+ category title.
S Noren in the meantime claimed the 75+ category title with a 25.07 m throw as Ch Iboton won the 80+ category title with a 16.21 m throw and K Ibohal won the 85+ category title with an 18.21 m throw.
Long Jump
Thiyam Radhesana lept 4.36 m to win the women’s 45+ category gold medal in the long-jump competition staged today.
Moirangthem Padmabati meanwhile won the 55+ category title with a 2.26 m jump as Paonam Mani recorded 2.28 m jump for the 65+ category title; K Shyama Devi recorded 3.12 m jump for the 70+ category gold and Lairikyengbam Pramodini recorded 1.68 m jump for the 80+ category gold.
Abir Guha also won the men’s 30+ long-jump event gold with a 4.61 m jump as Kangujam Romeshchandra sealed the 35+ category gold with a 6.51 m jump and Salam Somananda picked the 40+ category gold with a 5.84 m finish.
Pheiroijam Robindro meanwhile earned the 45+ category title with a 3.82 m jump as Md Fakharuddin sealed the 50+ category gold with a 4.54 m jump; Naorem Somen won the 55+ category gold with a 4.25 m jump; and Leihaothabam Kunjeshwor Sharma bagged the 60+ category title with a 3.49 m jump.
Najimuddin Shah (3.09 m), Ningthoujam Yaima (2.90 m) and Thokchom Ibomcha (3.60 m) also won the 70+, 75+ and 80+ category titles respectively.
Hammer Throw
Dr Ningthoujam Sunny secured the hammer throw event gold medal for men above 35 years by posting a 17.77 m throw as Keithellakpam Keeyambam bagged the 40+ category gold medal with an 18.27 m throw.
Sorokhaibam Maipaksana meanwhile earned the men’s 50+ category hammer throw gold with a 32.99 m throw as Toijam Rojikumar pickedthe 55+ category gold with an 18.96 m throw and Thoidingjam Lokendra sealed the 60+ category gold with a 22.71 m throw.
Peipanlung Golmei meanwhile claimed the 65+ category gold with a 28.17 m throw as Armabam Surchandra bagged the 70+ category gold with a 26.93 m throw; Sanasam  Gojendro claimed the 75+ category gold with a 22.38 m throw; Chingtham Inao sealed the 80+ category gold with a 22.93 m throw and RK Joykumar claimed the 85+ category gold with a 19.70 m throw.
