Two drug dealers held in IE

IMPHAL, Oct 5 : A combined team of security forces arrested two drug dealers along with 89 packets of World is Yours (W/Y) tablets and Rs 38 lakh in cash today afternoon from Khomidok Sorok Mapal under Heingang police station in Imphal East.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Ithem Khan (39), s/o Md Ujeruddin of Khomidok Sorok Mapal and Raju Khan @ Chaoren (41), s/o Shamu Khan of Khomidok Sorok Mapal.
Acting on credible intelligence from the Border Security Force (BSF) field team regarding large consignment of narcotics at Khomidok Sorok Mapal, a combined team comprising Imphal East commando, Heingang police, Anti-Narcotic Task Force, and 164 Battalion of BSF swiftly cordoned off two suspected houses and conducted simultaneous searches, said a well placed source.
During the search of Md Ithem Khan’s residence at Khomidok Sorok Mapal, the team recovered Rs 27.52 lakh in cash from a bedroom and 39 packets of WY tablets concealed inside a cardboard box, it said.
Authorities suspect the cash to be proceeds from drug transactions.
At the residence of Raju Khan, the team seized Rs 10.50 lakh in cash and 50 packets of W/Y tablets hidden in the kitchen garden.
The seized items, including drugs, cash, and mobile phones in the possession of Md Ithem Khan and Raju Khan, were confiscated following standard procedures.
Both individuals were arrested and handed over to Heingang police station.
A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act for further investigation.
