KCP alleges fund misappropriation

IMPHAL, Oct 5: The proscribed KCP has alleged gross misappropriation of public fund with regard to PMGSY Package No MN0896 T10 under Manipur CE-MSRRDA. According to a press release issued by KCP Information and Public Relations Secretary M Punsiba Meitei, a sum of over Rs 10 crore was withdrawn by the contractor in collusion with the concerned Executive Engineer.
However, instead of executing the mandated repair work, only superficial filling of potholes with bitumen was carried out.
This sham work has left the 20 Km road from Sekmaijing to Sugnu in an appalling state today, rendering travel extremely difficult, time-consuming and traumatic  for the masses relying on this crucial route for daily movement, the outfit said.
This constitutes nothing less than a criminal act against the people where public money  has been siphoned off while the condition of the road continues to worsen.  
This conduct of the contractor and the Executive Engineer is an insult to the spirit of welfare of the people of Kangleipak, it said.
The outfit added that it has decided to take punitive action against  the concerned Executive Engineer      and the contractor for this grave malpractice and betrayal of the people’s trust.
