IMPHAL, Oct 7 : NPP Manipur president and former Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has stated that the BJP MLAs of Manipur will face a very tough choice if the Centre does not allow them to form a popular Government at the earliest.
Responding to queries raised by media persons on the renewed efforts of BJP MLAs led by ex-Chief Minister N Biren and Speaker Th Satyabrata to meet Central leaders and form a popular Government, Joykumar remarked that the renewed efforts of the BJP MLAs to form a popular Government is a critical step.
In case the Centre does not allow them to form a popular Government this time, the next option of the BJP MLAs will be very tough, he said.
The NPP Manipur president today flagged off a half marathon organised by the 36th Loktak Day Observation Committee, Thanga and Loktak Sports Academy under the theme “Save Loktak, Save Our Indigenous Fishermen”.
The half marathon started from the Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou and culminated at Loktak Lairembi ground, Thanga.
Y Joykumar was present at the prize distribution ceremony too.
Responding to queries raised by media persons there, Joykumar said that Central leaders may or may not allow the BJP MLAs to form a popular Government.
It will be good for the MLAs if they are allowed to form a popular Government. In case they are not allowed to form a popular Government, the BJP MLAs will face a very tough choice with regard to their next step, Joykumar said.
On being enquired if he is in touch with the NPP Legislature Party leader who is currently in Delhi together with the BJP MLAs, and whether the NPP is also lending its weight to the BJP MLAs’ renewed pressure to form a popular Government, the NPP Manipur president said that NPP MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan’s visit to Delhi together with BJP MLAs was not authorised by the party.
It is his personal matter. Perhaps he went to Delhi with BJP MLAs for personal gains, Joykumar said.
Perhaps, he is hoping for a ministerial berth in case a popular Government is formed, Joykumar added.
He did not consult the party regarding his trip to Delhi, the NPP Manipur president said.
Till date, BJP never consulted NPP regarding the former’s renewed effort to form a popular Government. Some BJP MLAs might have talked the matter with some NPP MLAs but there was no communication at the party level between the two parties on forming a new popular Government, Joykumar added.
