IMPHAL, Oct 7: The Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Manipur State Chapter has announced that treatment of CMHT and PMJAY card holders will be charged fees from November 6 if the amounts indebted to the Government under CMHT and PMJAY are not cleared.
Speaking to media persons at IMA Hall, Lamphelpat today AHPI Manipur State Chapter president Dr Kh Palin said that 43 private hospitals and diagnostic centres are affiliated to AHPI Manipur State Chapter.
CMHT and PMJAY schemes are applicable in all these private hospitals, he said.
However, the amounts owed by the Government to these private hospitals have not been cleared for a long time. Thus the hospitals have been facing lots of difficulties.
The matter was highlighted to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister when there was a popular Government. In the aftermath of the imposition of President’s Rule, the same matter was placed before the Governor on April 16, 2025, Dr Palin said.
A team of AHPI Manipur State Chapter also met the Health Commissioner on August 11 on the same matter, he said.
Dr Palin said that the Government owes around Rs 90 crore to the private hospitals for PMJAY alone for a period of three years. With such a huge amount not cleared for such a long time, the private hospitals are finding it difficult to pay salaries of doctors and staff.
He said that around 8000 numbers of dialysis are done at the private hospitals in a month and most of the dialysis are done under CMHT or PMJAY.
He then appealed to the Governor and the Chief Secretary to pay the pending amount at the earliest.
One Luxmi, daughter of a dialysis patient, said that her father has been undergoing dialysis twice a week for five years.
The dialysis is being done with the help of the health scheme.
“If my father has to do dialysis without the health schemes, we must pay at least Rs 5000 for every dialysis which means we have to pay around Rs 30,000 every month. As for Government hospitals, it is very difficult to get a schedule”, Luxmi said.
She then appealed to the Government to release the amounts owed to the private hospitals so that the poor patients can continue their treatment without disruption.
Earlier, it was announced that treatment at private hospitals under PMJAY and CMHT cards would be stopped from August 16 if the pending amounts were not paid by the Government but the same step was put off following assurance by the Government that the pending amounts would be released soon.
