Two held with brown sugar

IMPHAL, Oct 7 : Two drug peddlers have been apprehended by a combined team of Senapati district police, Maram police station and 109 Bn CRPF along with 10 soap cases of brown sugar at Kabinam village along Imphal-Dimapur highway this morning.
The combined team was carrying out random frisking and checking at Kabinam village under the supervision of SP Senapati when a four-wheeler vehicle with Delhi registration number was seen moving in a suspicious manner.
The team immediately signalled the vehicle to stop for checking, sources said.
On frisking and checking the car, it was found driven by one M Leoshiru (26) s/o Moses of TNK village, Senapati district and he was accompanied by one Thaongao (28) s/o Rubin of Phaibung Khunou village, Senapati district.
On checking the vehicle, 10 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar were found concealed in the dashboard of the car, said the sources.
After intimating the matter to the Executive Magistrate, the 10 soap cases of brown sugar were seized and the two individuals were arrested in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and witnesses.
Later a regular case was registered under relevant sections of ND&PS Act, 1985 at Maram police station, said sources.
