IMPHAL, Oct 7 : The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences has claimed that no evidence of medical negligence was found in the treatment of 12-year-old Khusi Sanjenbam of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel who passed away after being admitted to the hospital on May 27, 2025.
RIMS, in a statement, said that the allegation of medical negligence compelled the hospital to constitute an Inquiry Committee to investigate the circumstances related to the treatment and management of the case.
After a thorough examination of all medical records and discussions, the Committee found no evidence of medical negligence, it claimed and alleged that the treatment, including the choice of antibiotics, was provided as per standard management protocols and evidence-based medical practice.
The Committee clarified that the selection of drugs depends on therapeutic efficacy and sensitivity to the organism, and not on cost or assumptions, it said.
Saying that the RIMS authority deeply regrets the untimely demise of the young patient and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, it urged the public to not circulate unverified or misleading information on social media, as such actions can demoralize the medical fraternity working for patient care.
