JNIMS doc does Manipur proud at global stage

IMPHAL, Oct 31: Dr Nameirakpam Johnson, Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal has been selected as a Phil Robinson Global Scholar for the year 2025 by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).
Dr Johnson attended the ACR Convergence 2025, held from October 24 to 29 in Chicago, USA.
The Phil Robinson Global Scholars Programme recognises outstanding early-career rheumatologists and researchers from across the globe who show exceptional promise in advancing the field of rheumatology through patient care, education, and advocacy.
During the event, Dr Johnson presented an oral case titled “A Tale of a Girl with Multiple Contractures and Deformities” in the esteemed Thieves Market session, which received wide appreciation from international experts.
A DM Graduate in Pediatric Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology from PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Johnson is among few pediatric rheumatologists serving in North East India and is dedicated to improving access to specialized rheumatology care for children in the region.
Reflecting on his experience, Dr Johnson said, “Being chosen as a Phil Robinson Global Scholar and attending ACR Convergence 2025 was a deeply inspiring experience. It gave me the opportunity to learn from global leaders and to represent our region on an international platform.”
The Youth Development Club, Malom Tulihal Makha Leikai has meanwhile congratulated Dr Johnson on his selection as a Phil Robinson Global Scholar.
The club and family members of the doctor have expressed immense pride and joy over his international recognition, describing it as a remarkable achievement and an inspiration for the youth of Manipur to pursue excellence in medicine and global scholarship.
The club wished for the doctor to bring more laurels for the State and the Nation in the future.
