IMPHAL, Oct 31 : Manipur U-19 women team registered their four wins on the trot in the ongoing U-19 Women’s T-20 Trophy as they steamrolled Sikkim by 9 wickets at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Manipur tactfully elected to field first in the match that was truncated to 9 overs an innings and restricted Sikkim to 32/8 before chasing down the target within 6.5 overs at the cost of only one wicket.
None of the Sikkim batters were able to register double digit scores as Tongbram Bandana led the Manipur bowling attack and returned with the best bowling figures of 2/7 in her spell of 2 overs.
Lingjen (1/5) and Thoithoibi (1/6) also chipped in a wicket apiece in the first innings that saw four Sikkim batters getting run outs.
In reply, Manipur lost Thokchom Alice on 5 for the first wicket before L Prena (18 not out off 21 balls) and Ningthoujam Taniya (5 not out off 14 balls) forged an unbeaten 22-run partnership to take Manipur to winning 33 with 13 balls left to spare.
Manipur will face Nagaland in the next match on November 2 at the same venue.
