IMPHAL, Oct 31 : The 2 day seminar on tribal entrepreneurship cum buyers and sellers meet concluded at Classic Sangai Hall today.
The programme was attended by ADGP Dr IK Muivah as chief guest and Director of Tribal Affairs & Hills Luckyson Kashung and Lead Manager of State Bank of India A Altais as guests of honour.
Addressing the function, IK Muivah said that traditionally tribals largely sold raw materials in an unprofitable way and been consumers of finished products.
They should place great emphasis on various skill acquisition programmes by utilising the skilling initiatives from the Central Government, he said and added that using machinery and on-site production for value addition is highly needed to reap commercial benefits.
Marketing, including e-commerce, and supply chain development needs to be strengthened, the senior police officer added. Luckyson spoke about the need for forming cooperative societies to overcome marketing hurdles.
Altais, on the other hand, stated that there are 273 bank branches in the State and aspiring entrepreneurs should take benefits of the specialised and supportive lending opportunities from banks.
