Kamjong hosts 3rd ASMITA Weightlifting League

IMPHAL, Nov 9 : As many as 41 athletes came together under one roof as Kamjong hosted 3rd ASMITA Weightlifting League at Riha Village Community Hall yesterday.
The competition hosted by the Manipur Weightlifting Association in collaboration with the Kamjong District Weightlifting Association was opened in the presence of Brigade Commander,44 Mountain Brigade; CO 4 Mahar Regiment; M Rachandra, VP of Manipur Olympic Association; L Jayanta Kumar, secy general, MOA and Kiran Kumar Thangjam, treasurer, MOA as presidium members.
27 women and 14 men participated in the competition conducted with the assistance of 20 technical officials.
In the women’ competition, Rinyachui of Riha village secured the 44 kg title by recording a total lift of 33 kg (17 in snatch and 16 in clean and jerk) as Saklan of Chadong village recorded 14 kg to win the silver medal and Huimwon of Thoyee village bagged the bronze medal with a total lift of 9 kg.
In the 48 kg category competition, Th Linthoi of Lamlai Khunou bagged the gold medal securing the highest 30 kg in snatch and 35 kg in clean and jerk as Thazhang of Yeasom village posted 61 kg lift and M Chaoba of Chadong village posted 40 kg lift to settle for the silver and bronze medals.
M Helina of Chadong village meanwhile earned the 53 kg category gold by recording the best lift of 40 kg in snatch and 45 kg in clean and jerk as Hilpita of Riha village and Kh Linthoinganbi of Yeasom village posted 74 kg and 65 kg lifts to seal the silver and the bronze medals.
Ng Sonibala of Chadong village meanwhile managed 45 kg in snatch and 61 kg in clean and jerk to win the 58 kg category title as Bidyalaxmi of Riha village (105 kg) and Arish of Thoyee village (85 kg) finished second and third.
The 63 kg category gold on the other hand went to Monishka of Chadong village who managed the highest 35 kg in snatch and 45 kg in clean and jerk while Delta (65 kg) of Thoyee village and Niti of Yeasom village (46 kg) bagged the silver and bronze medals.
Alvina of Riha village clinched the women’ 69 kg category title by recording the best lift of 40 kg in snatch and 50 kg in clean and jerk as Tonsana of Lamlai Khunou (70 kg) and Ph Kritika of Thoyee village (52 kg) finished second and third.
Bhumika, meanwhile, sealed the 77 kg category gold by amassing 91 kg (41 in snatch and 51 in clean and jerk) as H Dineshori of Chadong village (90 kg) and Silvia of Thoyee village (77 kg) secured the silver and the bronze medals.
Malemnganbi of Lamlai Khunou, Julie of Yeasom village and Jessika of Thoyee village finished first, second and third in the 77+ kg category competition.
In the men’s competition, Thothar Awungshi of Riha village sealed the 56 kg category gold by recording a 26 kg lift as Somirin of Thoyee village earned the silver by posting a 25 kg lift and Zanlei Kashung bagged the bronze with a 15 kg lift.
Chihanring of Thoyee village meanwhile claimed the 60 kg category gold with a total lift of 32 kg followed by Wormahai Raingam (26 kg) and Shirinmi Raming (20 kg).
Chishin of Chadong village (32 kg) and Lumrei Shang of Riha village (31 kg) on the other hand made top two finish in the 65 kg category competition as Wungnaochan of Yeasom village (46 kg), Sothan Ningshen of Lamlai Khunou (33 kg) and Thanshok Jajo of Chadong village (33 kg) sealed the top three places in the 71 kg category competition.
Wormi Raikhan (35 kg) of Riha village and Mirei (31 kg) of Yeasom village, meanwhile, claimed the gold and silver medals in the men’s 79 kg category competition.
