37th Junior and 35th Senior State Archery C’ship Maibam Lanchenbi strikes junior women’s Indian Round gold

IMPHAL, Nov 9 : NSA’s Maibam Lanchenbi won the junior women’s Indian Round individual event gold as the 37th Junior and 35th Senior State Archery Championship conducted by the Manipur Archery Association at SAI, NERC Ground Takyel entered the second day.
Lanchenbi beat Tonjam Kelvina of KMAC 6-4 in the final to seal the top honour as Suprina Thokchom of NSA settled for the bronze medal.
Huidrom Rupachandra of UYSC took the Junior men’s Indian Round individual event gold by edging M Bikash of KMAC in a closely fought final where both registered the same 5 (10) points apiece but Rupachandra’s shot was the nearest to the centre. Leitanthem Shilheiba of LMLCC settled for the bronze medal in this event.
Junior 40x40 m Indian Round
In the junior women’s 40x40 m Indian Round competition, S Lingjel of BCAC shot 640 points to win the gold as NSA’s Maibam Lanchenbi (639 pts) and Suprina Thokchom (638 pts) settled for the second and the third places.
Leitanthem Shilheiba of LMLCC on the other hand topped the junior men’s 40x40 m Indian Round competition gathering 677 points as Huidrom Rupachandra of UYSC (675 pts) and W Suraj of KMAC (662 pts) finished second and third.
Junior Compound Individual
The day also saw Huidrom Alphabati of SAI-RC claiming the junior women’s compound gold by securing 141 points as Senyai Thongam of BAA (138 pts) and Sagolshem Stelina of BAA (137 pts) settled for the second and the third places.
Sorokhaibam Johnson of SAC meanwhile earned the junior men’s compound individual gold medal by scoring 145 points as M Robinson of UAC and Y Rojit of SAI-RC settled for the second and third places with identical 142 points.
Alphabati went on to win the 50x50 m compound gold by scoring 674 points as Senyai Thongam (667 pts) and Thounaojam Gracia (641 pts) finished second and third.
Sorokhaibam Johnson of SAC also claimed his second gold by shooting 693 points in the 50x50 m event as Y Rojit (687 pts) and E Lamnganba of SAC (680 pts) followed suit.
Indian Round Team
AAC team comprising N Linthoisana, K Sandhya, H Roshan, and Khusburani Devi were able to claim the junior women’s Indian Round team gold by scoring 4 (25) points as KMAC team settled for the silver medal by scoring 4 (24) points.
The NSA team were third in the competition.
W Suraj, Y Jackson, M Bikash, and Y Bimoljit also led KMAC to the Indian Round team gold as they beat LMLCC team by 6-0 points.
The UYSC team were third in the event.
Compound Team
The SAC team featuring Sorokhaibam Johnson, Elangbam Lamnganba, Ranel Takhellambam and Pari Nongthombam won the junior men’s Compound event gold as they topped the competition with 230 points.
The UAC team scored 223 points in the final to settle for the runners up title as the SAI-RC team finished third.
As many as 81 men and 48 women archers from more that 13 units are taking part in the championship that will run till November 15.
