Mishap claims minor

THOUBAL, Nov 9: A tragic road accident killed a 10-year-old boy at Thoubal today.
The deceased child has been identified as Waikhom Pibaren Ngamba, son of Waikhom Rasinanda of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai.
The accident involving a Tata DI vehicle coming from Thoubal towards Yairipok occurred at around 11 am at the Kshetri Leikai Chanambam intersection.
Police sources said the accident is suspected to have been caused by a steering failure.
The vehicle hit the child on the side of the road and dragged him into a drain.
Locals recovered the child from under the vehicle and rushed him to the Thoubal District Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The body of the boy has been deposited at JNIMS for postmortem.
Thoubal police have arrested the driver and registered a case.
