State Junior and Senior Archery C’ships BAA, SAI-RC share 6 gold medals on Day 2

IMPHAL, Nov 10 : BAA and SAI-RC collected 3 gold medals apiece on the second day of the 37th Junior and 35th Senior State Archery Championships being underway at SAI NERC Ground, Takyel.
Jenifer Paonam earned BAA a gold medal in the junior women’s individual recurve competition by beating Yaikhombi Thongam of SAI-RC 5(9)-5(8) in the final showdown as Soraisham Karina Chanu of NSU bagged the bronze.
Leishangthem Yuhenba of SAI-RC meanwhile earned the junior men’s individual recurve gold by beating compatriot Keithellakpam Rohit 6-0 in the final.
Elangbam Orbit settled for the bronze medal in the said competition.
In the junior women’s 70 m x70 m recurve competition, Jenifer Paonam won another gold medal with a score of 602 points as SAI-RC’s Sorokhaibam Melody shot 597 and Yaikhomba Thongam shot 581 points to seal the second and the third places.
BAA’s Paikhomba Chongtham meanwhile claimed the junior men’s 70 m x70 m recurve gold with the highest score of 651 points as Leishangthem Yuhenba of SAI-RC shot 630 points and Elangbam Orbit of SAI-RC shot 618 points to settle for the second and the third places.
SAI-RC however claimed both the junior women and men’s team recurve titles.
The women’s team comprising Sorokhaibam Melody, Yaikhombi Thongam, Huidrom Sandhyarani and Urikhinbam Morning beat BAA team comprising Jenifer Paonam, N Linthoingambi and Tanouhenbi Khundrakpam 6-0 to win the gold medal as ESU team settled for the bronze medal.
SAI-RC team of Leishangthem Yuhenba, Laishram Nelson, Keithellakpam, and Bikram Moirangthem beat BAA team of Paikhomba Chongtham, Ningthoijam Yoiheiba and Sougrakpam Rakesh 5 (28)-5 (20) in the keenly contested final to seal the gold medal.
AAA team won the bronze medal in this event.
