IMPHAL, Nov 11: LPG refill supply has improved significantly over the last 10 days and as a result, the backlog of around two months and a half has come down to one month and a half.  In addition to NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway), the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has been ferrying bulk LPG on NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur highway) too. With a good number of LPG TTs ferrying LPG on both NH-37 and NH-2 regularly, LPG refill supply has improved significantly in the State.
In addition to the LPG TTs which have been in operation since the past, a considerable number of larger LPG bulk TTs have been inducted. This dramatically raised the volume of bulk LPG shipped to the State, sources said.
As a result, there is abundant stock of bulk LPG in the IOCL’s Sekmai bottling plant.
Earlier, LPG was ferried by bullet TTs  of seven metric tonnes on NH-37. Now, bullet TTs of nine metric tonnes, 12 metric tonnes and 14 metric tonnes have been inducted. Moreover, the number of LPG bullet TTs requisitioned for ferrying LPG has increased substantially.
Aided by the favourable weather conditions, bullet TTs of 12 metric tonnes and 14 metric tonnes have been ferrying LPG on Imphal- Dimapur highway in addition to the smaller TTs.
As there is abundant stock of bulk LPG, the daily operation of Sekmai bottling plant has been raised to 11 hours a day, according to the sources.
Now the Sekmai bottling plant is operating 11 hours a day, releasing 45 truck loads of refill cylinders to LPG distributors on a daily basis.
A few months back, the bottling plant was able to release only around 20 truck loads of LPG refills in a day.
Now, LPG distributors having greater number of consumers get two truckloads of refill cylinders in a day, the sources added.
