Derby Uripok outlast YWC-P by 3 wickets in Nongin Cricket Tournament opener

IMPHAL, Nov 11 : Nongin Cricket Tournament organised by 189 Bn CRPF in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India kicked off today at SAI NERC ground, Takyel.
The tournament is organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and was formally opened in the presence of Premjeet Meitei, DIG Range, Imphal as the chief guest; Padma Shri Kunjarani Devi, Commandant CRPF as guest of honour; and Dr Shyam Sundar Rath, VC National Sports University as special guest.
In the opening match of the 16-team tournament organised in the single elimination format, Derby Uripok defeated YWC, Patsoi by 3 runs to advance to the quarterfinals.
YWC posted a respectable total of 126/9 in the allotted 15 overs courtesy of Dhani’s 35-ball 57 but Derby Uripok raced to the winning 132/7 in 14.1 overs on the back of Deepak’s quickfire 42 off 13 balls to seal their next round berth.
Khaba of Derby Uripok, who enjoyed a six wicket haul in the first innings (6/16 in 3 overs), was adjudged player of the match.
