Union MoS visits Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, Nov 13 (DIO) : Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta today visited Kangpokpi and reviewed the progress of works under both Central and State schemes.
He was accompanied by Nikhil Saraswat, IRS and Manmohan Singh Deol, Executive Director (NHIDCL).
During his visit to Presidency College, Motbung, the Union Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS.
The reception was graced by SDOs, district-level officers, Principal, teachers, students, and beneficiaries of various Government schemes.
The Union Minister congratulated Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, and NHIDCL officials for their efforts in improving the highway connecting Kangpokpi to Kohima.
Describing the route as a vital corridor and the shortest link from Guwahati, he noted that efforts are underway to resolve blockages near Kohima to ensure smoother traffic and faster transport of goods.
He mentioned that multiple work packages are in progress and assured that land acquisition issues will be addressed soon.
Emphasizing the Government’s commitment to enhancing road infrastructure and regional connectivity, the Minister praised Manipur's natural beauty and cultural richness, describing it as being among the most scenic in the world.
He urged citizens to work together for a prosperous and peaceful future.
During the reception programme, Ajay Tamta distributed various beneficiary items, including Ayushman Bharat cards, stationery under Janjatiya Gaurav, sports materials under Mission Vatsalya, a motorized winding machine and sewing machines under the National Handloom Development Programme, and sewing machines under PM Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana (Machine Shakti).
Students and beneficiaries also interacted with the MoS at the event.
Later, the gathering sang Vande Mataram to mark the 150th anniversary of  the National song.
