Dr Raghumani honoured with distinguished scientist award

Imphal, Nov 14 : Dr Raghumani Singh Ningthoujam, Scientist, Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai was honoured with the Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) Distinguished Scientist Award 2025 (Chemical Science) at the conference hall of Chemistry Department, Manipur University today.
The event was jointly organised by RIST, Imphal and the Chemistry Department of MU. They recognized the exemplary contributions of Dr Raghumani to chemical sciences, including his election as Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (FNASc) and Fellow of the Physics Academy of the North East (FPANE).
The award presentation ceremony was attended by Moirangthem Dhaneshwar, Retd Professor, Chemistry Department, MU as the chief guest; Professor N Nimai, Director, RIST, Imphal as the functional president and Professor N Rajmuhon, former Vice Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University and Professor RK Bhubon Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry, MU as the guests of honour. At the event, Professor N Nimai pointed out the lack of adequate research institutes in the State, adding that it hinders Manipur's participation in the global race for development. Thus, university teachers formed RIST to bridge this gap and motivate Manipuri researchers.
Dr Raghumani also presented a lecture on the occasion and engaged with the faculty and students present at the ceremony.
