U23 Men’s State A Trophy Manikanta, bowlers lead Manipur to 93-run victory over Sikkim

IMPHAL, Nov 15 : Heisnam Manikanta scored a slow but significant half century before Kangujam Ringku, Kongbrailatpam Kalyan and Naorem Dibak starred with the ball to help Manipur beat Sikkim by 93 runs in the fourth match of the U23 Men’s State A Trophy Plate Group competition.
Asked to bat first at PCA New Cricket Stadium, Manipur were bundled out for 148 runs in 43.2 overs despite Heisnam Manikanta’s 91-ball 56 but K Kalyan (3/5 in 6.4 overs), K Ringku (3/1 in 3 overs), and N Dibak (2/20 in 6 overs) overhauled Sikkim’s bowling performance to dismiss them for a paltry total of 55 runs within 21.4 overs.
Somokanta 29 off 40 and Sanjit 12 off 19 also registered double digit runs for Manipur in the first innings that witnessed Siddharth (4/10 in 6 overs) and Aadil (3/28 in 7 overs) sharing 8 crucial wickets.
Abhisek 16 off 5 balls was the only double digit run getter for Sikkim in the chase as State bowlers ran through their batting line up.
Sanayai of Manipur also chipped in a wicket (1/17 in 4 overs) to set up the early collapse of Sikkim.
It was the second win for Manipur in four games after the opening game win against Arunachal Pradesh.
Manipur will play Nagaland in the last league round match  at Ropar Cricket Ground, Ropar on November 17.
