Elected governing council member
Imphal Nov 15 : Eminent adventure promoter and senior journalist Yambem Laba has been elected as a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation for the incoming term.
He was elected in the elections which was held at the Foundation in New Delhi yesterday.
The Indian Mountaineering Foundation is the apex body that controls and coordinates all adventure activities in India including mountaineering, aerosports and water sports and sports climbing.
Yambem Laba is well known in the State and elsewhere for developing the MMTA model for spreading adventure sports and was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship by the Ashoka Foundation headquartered in Washington,USA earlier in 1987.
He had earlier served as the president of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) .
At 70 years he is still very active in adventure activities.
