IMPHAL, Nov 16 : Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam trounced Angtha FC by 6-0 goals at SSC ground, Sekta this afternoon for the 6th win and went atop the 3rd Premier League table.
AIM, who defeated KIYC 1-0 for the fifth win in the previous match, had a memorable outing of the season as they enjoyed a 3-0 first half lead before pumping in three more goals in the second half to seal the 6-0 win.
Basanta Singh (6’, 28’) scored twice including the opener as Thongam Lenin scored the team’s second goal in the 12th minute to earn AIM a 3-0 first half lead.
After the restart, Keisham Dona made it 4-0 after 48 minutes before Elangbam Birendrakumar scored late in the 89th minute and Nameirakpam Rebanta scored three minutes into the stoppage time (90+3’) to make the final scoreline read 6-0.
The win helped AIM dislodge MIUFC from the top of the table on 19 points with 16 goals, one more than MIUFC’s tally.
Earlier in the day, Social Sporting Club (SSC), Sekta sealed a 3-1 comeback win against ASUFII FA to go 6th in the table on 12 points from 3 wins and 3 draws.
ASUFII FA went ahead after 6 minutes as Ngararshing Raikhan found the back of the SSC net but they failed to sustain momentum and conceded three goals including two in the second half to suffer the 1-3 loss.
It was Yumnam Bikeshor who found the equaliser for SSC in the 40th minute before Luwangsangbam Robinson overturned the lead in the 42nd minute.
The decisive goal for SSC came up in the 70th minute with Sapam Bishorjit making the most of a chance.
