DGP fetes Manipur Police’s masters athletes following Asian Championship success

IMPHAL, Nov 17 : DGP, Manipur Rajiv Singh today accorded warm reception to the masters athletes of Manipur Police, who represented India at the recently concluded 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship 2025, during a  solemn function held at his office chamber today.
The championship was hosted by the Masters Athletic Federation of India at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai from November 5 to 9. Notably, 13 athletes of Manipur Police represented India at the championship and 7 of them made podium finishes to swell India’s medal tally.
The DGP interacted with the athletes and encouraged them with kind words and appreciation.
The medallists include Deputy Commandant of 3rd IRB, W Thoiba, who won a pole vault bronze in the 50+ men’s category; CDO Tbl Inspector Md Imtiyaz Rahman, who won a bronze medal in the 40+ men’s 5000 m race; SI at CID (SB) L Bembem, who won a gold medal in 45+ women’s 2000 m steeplechase, a silver medal in triple jump and a bronze medal in pole vault event; SI at Cyber Crime PS Th Radhesana Devi, who won a gold medal in the 45+ women’s 4x100 m relay race, a silver medal in the 100 m race, a silver medal in the 80 m hurdles, a silver medal in the long jump and a silver medal in the 400 m hurdles race; Head Constable of IW PS N Brajamani who won a bronze medal in the 45+ men’s 5 km race walk event; Head Constable, K Rameshchandra Singh, who won a silver medal in the35+ men’s long jump event; and Rifleman at 3rd IRB S Somananda, who bagged a bronze medal in the 40+ men’s long jump event.
The other athletes who represented India at the championships include Constable M Asharani; Rifleman L Dhanabir, Rifleman L Tomba, Head Constable M Ibotombi, Head Constable S Kumar,  Jemmadar Yumnam Brojen.
